OPTION 1: Critique Only
If you’re an artist who simply wants a formal, written critique, this option is for you.
You’ll receive a written review and insightful analysis of each work you send in, and of your body of work as a whole. Emphasis will be on issues of composition and arrangement. You’ll receive feedback regarding patterns of strength (and relative weakness) in your work, and specific ideas and recommendations for improving your compositions.
Fee: $225, payable by credit card using PayPal, or by check or Money Order.
OPTION 2: Coaching and Critique
INITIAL SESSION
For more personal, in-depth, and interactive feedback and discussion regarding your work, the comprehensive coaching and critique option is extremely valuable. From your initial consultation and analysis, you’ll receive the following:
REVIEW
I’ll thoroughly review your materials and outline important areas for discussion.
INTERVIEW (Approximately one hour by phone)
Here, you’ll get a chance to discuss your work, aspirations, and concerns, one-on-one. I’ll reference specific images you’ve submitted, as well as the written statements you’ve provided. Through interactive discussion, I’ll be able to get a sense of you, the artist, behind the work.
WRITTEN REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Following the phone interview, you’ll receive the same critique materials mentioned above -- a written review and insightful analysis of each work you submit, and of the body of work as a whole. Here, however, emphasis will not only be on issues of composition and arrangement (including observations regarding strengths in your work, as well as specific recommendations for improvement).
It will also include notes about presentation, such as how to improve your artist’s statement and the images you work with, names of artists you might look to for inspiration and validation, and ideas regarding the direction of your work in the immediate future.
Fee: $275, payable by credit card using PayPal, or by check or Money Order.
FOLLOW UP SESSIONS
(Directed Individual Study over a period of four weeks):
After you’ve completed your initial coaching and critique session, you’ll have the option to set up a one-on-one, directed individual study program. These follow up sessions will include:
INTIAL DISCUSSION
(Approximately one hour by phone)
We’ll start by discussing where you are and areas you might wish to explore or develop over the next month. At the end of this discussion, you’ll set up an individual contract outlining what you hope to achieve and what you’ll produce.
EMAIL DISCUSSION
(Once a week during your contract period)
You’ll be able to consult with me, via email, with any questions or concerns that might arise during the course of your explorations. Include a few images to refer to when possible.
ENDING CRITIQUE AND DISCUSSION
(Approximately one hour by phone)
Here, we’ll use your initial contact as a starting point for discussion. We’ll look at where your exploration led you, what roadblocks you encountered, what revelations and insights occurred and how these things influenced the works you produced. This discussion will end with recommendations for where to go from here (including formation of another contract for the next session, if desired).
