Our Services

Our experienced team offers you a variety of writing and editorial services to suit your promotional needs.

Katherine Aimone, Senior Writer and Editor for Aimone Art Services, has an academic background is in the history and criticism of art, served as a curator for various museums over a period of over 15 years. During this period, she assisted numerous artists with resumes, interpretive materials for exhibitions, and essays about their work. Her art-related writing is published in many exhibition catalogues, as well as magazine and newspaper articles. Her analytical as well a poetic writing style bridges the gap between artspeak and common experience for potential patrons of your work.

During the past seven years, she has worked as a writer and editor for Lark Books. She has written eight books, one of which is The Fiberarts Book of Wearable Art (2002, Lark Books, a subsidiary of Sterling Publishing, NY). This book includes 40 essays about art-to-wear artists from across the country. Each essay was created out of personal interviews, many of them done through email conversations. Materials and images sent by the artist also assisted her in this process. To sample a couple of these essays, click here.

The Essay

Now you also have access to this type of interpretive essay, which will draw from all aspects of your life. Your work will be rendered more accessible for those who want to understand it on a deeper level. And, your personal story is one of your most powerful tools, serving as a meaningful connecter to potential collectors.

This invaluable essay focusing on the compelling aspects of your work and life will provide you with a sensitive and sophisticated interpretation. With quotes from you interspersed throughout the text, each essay can be tailored to meet your needs, whether you wish to emphasize your achievements and personal story, your philosophy, your techniques, or your style. (And, all of these aspects can be combined into one essay, if you wish.) For example, click here to see such essays on fiberartists Tim Harding. Laurie Shafer, and Ellen Gienger.

After the essay is complete, Aimone Art Services can create a personal brochure for you, or you can use the essay as you wish in printed promotional materials, signage for your booth or exhibition space, your website, or any other vehicle of promotion.

Resumes

If you need help organizing and writing your resume, Aimone Art Services can help you with that as well. This is another tool that you can’t do without as you promote yourself. Most curators, gallery owners, and patrons simply don’t have the time to read a comprehensive list of everything you’ve done—so we’ll help you edit this piece, choosing the most important bits of information so that this piece is highly effective, showing you and your work in the best possible light.

If you’re starting from scratch, and need a resume composed, we can do that too. We’ll make it easy for you.

Artists' Bios

If you need a short biographical piece of three to four paragraphs for an exhibition or show, we can also provide you with that material. Your curator will thank you! This is more straightforward and factual than the interpretive essay listed above. Normally, the artist’s bio highlights some of your achievements, your techniques and style, and, if you wish, your philosophy. By asking you a series of simple questions, we’ll help you get to the heart of what is most important to say.

These types of materials have been proven to help increase sales in galleries. When you make a personal connection with the viewer, they are more likely to show an interest in the work.

Catalogue Essays

Aimone Art Services can also help you by writing an essay to accompany an exhibition catalogue. For examples of this writing, click here to read essays on Tim Murray, Norma Pruden, and Physical Florida.

If the organization with which you’re working, whether a museum or gallery, does not provide this service for an exhibition, we’ll make it easy. Through slides of the work to be shown, we’ll compose an informative and exciting essay that can also be accompanied by other pieces such as a chronology of your life and work. If we need to work with the curator for your show, we’ll be happy to do so.

We can also take this piece to the next stage for you, by doing the entire layout and printing of the catalogue.
